Matty aka The Narcoleptic

It was 1986, and House Music was taking control. It wasn't until he moved from the suburbs to the city of Chicago in the early 90's that he found his true calling in the underground scene. Finally, after a lot of hard work and luck, he earned himself a residency at smart bar's Tuesday night romp,"Pump", where his dear friends Derrick Carter, Miles Maeda and Terry Martin also played host to many up and coming All stars. When"Pump" came to a conclusion, Matty became a part of The thriving urban club scene. With residencies all over the city of Chicago, playing with top players such as Derrick Carter, D.J. Sneak , Mark Farina, Diz, and the list continues.

Currently, Matty's commitments are to his studio and regular gigs throughout the U.S. and recently Asia. He has released compositions as The Narcoleptic on labels -Classic Music Co., Kwench, Jump Recordings, Get Up Recordings, Loveslap and Leftroom etc . Also on his own imprint Diatom.

1986년, 하우스 뮤직이 세상을 장악하기 시작하던 시기였다.

그가 자신의 진정한 길을 발견한 것은 90년대 초, 교외를 떠나 시카고 도심으로 이주한 이후였다. 그곳의 언더그라운드 씬 속에서 그는 자신의 소명을 찾게 된다.

수많은 노력과 약간의 행운 끝에, 그는 시카고의 유명 클럽 smartbar에서 매주 화요일 열리던 파티 “Pump”의 레지던트 자리를 얻게 된다. 이 파티에서는 그의 친한 친구들이자 Derrick Carter, Miles Maeda, Terry Martin 등이 함께 호스트로 활동하며 수많은 차세대 스타 DJ들을 소개했다.

“Pump”가 막을 내린 이후, Matty는 시카고의 활발한 어반 클럽 씬 중심으로 들어가게 된다. 그는 시카고 전역 여러 클럽의 레지던트를 맡으며 Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Diz 등 수많은 정상급 DJ들과 함께 플레이해왔다.

현재 Matty는 스튜디오 작업과 미국 전역, 그리고 최근에는 아시아까지 이어지는 정기 공연 활동에 집중하고 있다.

그는 The Narcoleptic이라는 이름으로 Classic Music Co., Kwench, Jump Recordings, Get Up Recordings, Loveslap, Leftroom 등 다양한 레이블에서 작품을 발표했으며, 자신의 레이블인 Diatom에서도 음악을 선보이고 있다.
