5 NOTES — Five questions, five answers: a quick map of who HOWL is.
LOOP — The track on heaviest rotation right now?
Cosmic Collective — "Every Flower Loves the Sun" and Sunday Scaries — "Back to You". (The first one I found through a video on Instagram — someone playing it on drums, bass, and piano. It gave me chills. The second one also came through Instagram. What got me was this brief moment of silence just before the hook — it's stayed with me ever since.)
MOMENT — One moment behind the decks you won't forget?
Playing at SCR when the older DJs I'm close with suddenly kissed me on the cheek. (Completely caught me off guard. But they're people who've always had my back.)
BEHIND — The person who's been in your corner?
My mom. (She's always been right there behind me — cheering me on, believing in me.)
NIGHT — How do you wind down at the end of the day?
ASMR. (After a shower, I lie in bed and listen until I fall asleep. Raccoon ASMR — highly recommend.)
WORD — HOWL. One word.

1. 지금 가장 많이 반복해서 듣는 트랙은?
요즘 가장 자주 듣는 곡은 Every Flower Loves the Sun – "Cosmic Collective"입니다. 인스타그램에서 드럼, 베이스, 피아노로 이 곡을 연주하는 영상을 보고 소름이 돋았습니다. 또 한 곡을 뽑자면 Back to You – "Sunday Scaries"입니다. 이 곡 역시 인스타그램에서 접했는데, 훅 부분에 잠깐 생기는 정적에서 강한 인상을 받았습니다.
2. 디제잉하면서 가장 기억에 남는 순간 하나를 꼽는다면?
SCR에서 음악을 틀 때 친한 DJ 형, 누나들이 갑자기 볼뽀뽀 했을 때 당황했습니다. 하지만 늘 응원해주는 분들입니다.
3. 지금의 하울이 있기까지, 곁에서 가장 큰 힘이 됐던 한 사람은?
우리 엄마요. 저의 뒤에서 항상 응원하고 격려해 주었습니다.
4. 하루가 끝날 때 자신만의 마무리 방법이 있나요?
ASMR 듣기입니다.
씻고 침대에 누워서 잠들기 전에 들으면서 하루를 마무리하고 릴렉스가 되어서 좋아요. 개인적으로 Raccoon ASMR 추천합니다.

내가 가장 좋아하고 멋있다고 생각하는 두 가지,
그 두 가지를 하고 있는 나입니다.
HOWL
어린 나이에도 턴테이블리즘에 대한 높은 이해도를 바탕으로 과감한 시도와 안정적인 그루브를 동시에 보여주며 또래를 넘어서는 존재감을 드러내고 있습니다. 그의 셋에는 90년대 올드스쿨 힙합을 중심으로 소울, 펑크, 하우스 등 다양한 장르에서 받은 영향이 녹아 있으며, 음악의 뿌리를 탐구하는 과정 속에서 이를 자신만의 방식으로 흡수해 나가고 있습니다.
이러한 음악적 기반 위에서 디제잉을 시작한 지 약 2년 만에 DKBT 2025 Hip Hop DJ Tournament 우승을 기록하며 존재감을 알렸고, 앞으로의 행보가 더욱 기대되는 DJ입니다.
HOWL (Song Ha-ul), born 2013, is a Seoul-based turntablist who moves between the skateboard and the decks with the same instinct. His sets draw from old-school hip-hop, soul, funk, and house — music he didn't just discover but dug for. Two years into DJing, he won the DKBT 2025 Hip Hop DJ Tournament. He's twelve.
