1. 본인을 소개해 달라.
테크노 프로듀서, DJ, 사운드 디자이너인 Soolee입니다 통독 20주년을 기념한 브랜드인 We Call It Techno 를 통해 한국의 대표적인 테크노 뮤지션으로 소개되며, 지산락페스티벌, 월드디제이 페스티벌, 글로벌 게더링, UMF 코리아 등 서울을 베이스로 많은 무대에서 활약하였습니다. 2012년 부터 Jin Kim 과 함께 Less n Less 레이블을 설립하여, Less n Less DJ 들과 함께 서울의 언더그라운드 테크노의 역사를 이어가고 있으며 vurt 의 레지던트 DJ 로 활약하고 있습니다.
2. 음악을 시작한 계기가 있다면?
음악을 시작한 때는 아주 아주 오래전입니다. 전자음악을 시작한지는 15년 가까이 되었고, 계기라고 하면 중학교때 우연히 입수한 Dos 용 Stream Tracker 라는 시퀀서를 접하고 부터입니다. 어릴때부터 음악을 무척 좋아했지만, 컴퓨터가 가진 무한한 가능성에 매료되었던게 음악을 하려고 했던 계기인것 같습니다. DJ 활동 전에는 Electronic Live 를 먼저 시작했고 이후 DJ에 깊이 관심가지게 되었고, 현재까지 이르렀습니다. 오늘 Mixmix TV 에서는 직접 프로듀스한 곡들을 바탕으로 Liveset 을 플레이 하였습니다.
3. 현재 씬에서 가장 아쉬운 부분이 있다면 무엇인가? 그에 대해 생각하는 나름의 대안이나 해결책이 있다면 함께 이야기해 달라.
일단 인구수가 너무 적습니다. 물론 클럽문화가 널리 알려져서 대중화 되었지만, 세세한 장르나 다양성 측으로 보면 충분한 수입을 기대하기 힘들정도로 시장이 작다고 생각합니다. 하지만 눈을 돌리면 훨씬 큰 세계 시장이 있고 로컬씬을 기반으로 할수 있을만큼 늘려가면서 해외씬으로 진출하는 방법을 고민해봐야 한다고 생각합니다.
1. Please introduce yourself
I’m techno producer, DJ and sound designer, SOOLEE. I had introduced as representative Korean techno musician through the “We Call It Techno” which is the special brand celebrating 20th year anniversary of unification of Germany. Also, playing in Jisan Rock Festival, World DJ Festival, Global Gathering, UMF Korea and many gigs based in Seoul. I’ve founded the label “Less n Less” with Jin Kim in 2012.
2. Do you have any special reason to start music?
It’s long long time ago that I started music. Been 15 years starting Electronic Music and the thread was back in my middle school, I got the Stream Tracker which is the sequencer for DOS. I loved the music since very young, it is the first time to actually doing something with the music after fascinated the unlimited possibility of computer. Before DJing, I’ve started Electronic Live first, and then my interest move on to the DJ till now. Today, I played my own tracks in Liveset.
3. What’s the lacking part of Korean Scene? And please give some alternatives or solutons if you have in mind.
First of all, the population is too small. It’s for sure that the club culture became popular these days, in the aspects of diversity or details genres, it’s still hard to expect enough incomes from music producing or relevants areas. However when we look outside to worldwide market, there’s an apportunity. So, it’s time to consider go into the bigger market based on Local scene.

Ancient Future : Vurt
Club Vurt is located in Hapjeongdong, Seoul. Based on futuristic sound with raw beats and repeated rhythm, it aims for the happiness from dancing which can be the essence of the dance music.
Tim Walter who had been worked in international sound company “Allen & Heath” is in charge with Sound Engineer, satisfying the sound optimized to Electronic music. UNJIN, SUNA (aka DJ Flamenco), Soolee, DJI who are famous for their progressive style, make the sound of Vurt together.
Organizing regular party with inviting international artists, and collaborate with Korean Techno Labels, ECI Korea and LESS N LESS.
