1. Looking back, describe the MIXMIX SELECTS studio session in one sentence:
A funky journey in the depth of dance music.
2. In a no-crowd, listening-focused session, what changes the most compared to a club set?
For me, the purpose of a listening session is to listen, and the purpose of a club set is to dance. DJing is about dealing with energies and shifting them into a party — that’s our main job. But getting lost in the music we love during a listening session is also something we really need sometimes.
3. Across genre changes in your mixes, what's the consistent thread that defines your taste?
That’s how I like to keep people engaged, making them feel that I can surprise them at any moment with an unexpected track. And that’s what keeps me locked in a set, together with my instinct to blend different styles of music under the same taste.
4. You’re often described as a reference figure of the Italian underground. If there’s an “Italian sensibility” in your music or taste, what would it be?
I’d say it’s the balance between emotion and groove. There’s a natural sense of melody, warmth, and soul, mixed with a strong love for the dancefloor and for sharing moments together through music.
5. You’ve shared nights with artists like Moodymann, Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Kode9, Zed Bias, and Benji B.
What’s one lesson you stole from those nights that still shows up in your sets today?
Professionalism, vision, staying humble, and letting the music speak first.
6. When you first press play on a demo, what’s the very first feeling that makes you think, “This could be ours”?
If I can visualize it being played in a specific situation and it sounds right in my mind.
7. After that first feeling, what are 2–3 concrete things you check to decide whether a track is truly “Last Forever”?
- If it is unique
- If there is a real idea behind it
8. Your upcoming Memorabilia LP on Last Forever features artists like Robert Owens and Javonntte, with singles released over time. As a DJ, you create tracks as “tools.” As an album maker, you create “songs.”
How does your thinking change between those two roles?
For me, an album needs to work both as a listening experience and on the dancefloor. Maybe not on every dancefloor, but on the more “intelligent” ones.
9. When you played in Seoul, was there an energy or rhythm you wanted to emphasize more? What was the first image that came to mind when you thought of a “Seoul floor”?
Being in Seoul gave me a real sense of a fresh start, a place where you can build from zero and discover new directions. That feels very exciting compared to Europe, where the musical storytelling is already more established.
10. What was the most memorable food you had in Seoul on this trip — and why?
I really enjoyed Korean cuisine, and it was one of the motivations for exploring the city too. A truly memorable food experience was definitely Korean barbecue.

This is pure poetry in notes. When I play this, it’s a compliment to the crowd.

15. You played three venues in Seoul on this trip. If you had to choose one track you were happiest to play there, what would it be — and why?
Turbojazz feat. Javonntte — “Everybody DJ”
Because it’s the single that was released during this tour — playing it in Seoul felt especially meaningful.

DJ의 역할은 에너지를 다루고, 그것을 파티의 흐름으로 전환하는 데 있죠.
하지만 우리가 사랑하는 음악에 깊이 빠져드는 시간 역시 꼭 필요합니다. 리스닝 세션은 바로 그런 순간입니다.
3. 장르를 넘나들면서도 당신의 믹스를 관통하는 공통된 취향은?
저는 청중이 언제든 예상치 못한 트랙으로 놀랄 수 있다는 긴장감을 유지하는 걸 좋아합니다.
그게 사람들이 제 셋에 계속 집중하게 만드는 요소죠.
그리고 다양한 스타일을 하나의 취향 안에서 자연스럽게 섞어내는 제 본능이 그 중심에 있습니다.
4. 당신의 음악 안에 ‘이탈리아적 감각’이 있다면?
감정과 그루브 사이의 균형이라고 생각합니다.
자연스러운 멜로디 감각과 따뜻함, 소울이 있으면서도 동시에 댄스플로어에 대한 강한 애정이 공존하죠. 음악을 통해 함께 순간을 나누는 문화도 포함됩니다.
5. 수많은 레전드와 함께한 밤들에서 얻은 교훈은?
프로페셔널리즘, 비전, 겸손함.
그리고 무엇보다 음악이 먼저 말하게 두는 태도입니다.
6. 데모를 처음 들었을 때 “이건 우리일 수 있겠다”는 직감은 언제 오는가?
어떤 특정한 상황에서 이 트랙이 플레이되는 장면이 머릿속에 그려지고, 그 사운드가 제 안에서 이미 제대로 울릴 때입니다.
7. ‘Last Forever’ 레이블에 어울린다고 판단하는 기준은?
1) 독창적인가
2) 그 안에 분명한 아이디어가 있는가
8. DJ로서의 ‘툴’과 앨범 메이커로서의 ‘곡’은 어떻게 다른가?
저에게 앨범은 ‘리스닝 경험’이면서 동시에 ‘댄스플로어에서도 기능해야’ 합니다.
모든 플로어는 아닐지라도, 보다 음악적인 감각을 가진 공간에서는 충분히 작동해야 한다고 생각합니다.
9. 서울에서의 플레이는 어떤 느낌이었나?
서울은 마치 새로운 출발선에 서 있는 느낌을 줬습니다.
제로에서 다시 쌓아 올리고, 새로운 방향을 탐색할 수 있는 곳이라는 인상이 강했죠.
이미 음악적 서사가 어느 정도 자리 잡은 유럽과는 또 다른, 매우 신선한 에너지였습니다.
10. 이번 서울에서 가장 기억에 남는 음식은?
한국 음식은 도시를 탐험하고 싶게 만드는 동기이기도 했습니다.
특히 기억에 남는 경험은 단연코 한국식 바비큐였습니다.
